FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW MUCH DO TEXAS LONGHORNS COST ?
All our Longhorns are pure bred, registered with Texas Longhorns Australia and come halter broken (with the exception of older cows that we are selling). Our steers start at $2,000 each. Heifers are priced between $2,500 - $4,000 depending on breeding. Cow and calf units / 3 in 1 packages start at $3,000
HOW DO YOU HANDLE TEXAS LONGHORNS?
with a few small amendments to regular cattle handling practices, Longhorns can easily be handled. Easy and affordable crush options can be discussed. We also have a design template for those wanting to have something fabricated. Longhorns are very clever and as long as they are given time and not rushed, they can maneuver their horns to be loaded up traditional ramps.
We place a very high standard on temperament in our breeding program. We are constantly around our longhorns with young children, dogs and buggies. Longhorns by nature are very placid and friendly and many of ours enjoy a scratch behind the horns.
All our wearers are also halter broken which includes tying, brushing, scratching and leading. This doesn't mean your longhorn is going to be able to be caught and cared for like a halter broken horse. But, they will be quiet and able to be handled for doctoring / loaded onto trailers / lead to new paddocks with minimal fuss.
CAN I JUST OWN ONE LONGHORN?
Unfortunately, we will no longer sell single longhorns to homes that have no other cattle. Whilst some cattle cope well with company of horses / sheep / other live stock, some do not adjust without their own kind. We understand buying more than one longhorn can be a financial commitment, so we don't require you to purchase two from us. However, you will need to arrange for another bovine friend for your new mate. We likely have angus or angus cross longhorn calves available at market prices and will do our best to help!
Our cattle's welfare and success in their new homes is the most important thing to us. We want our customers to have a positive experience and happy cattle!
